Charles R. "Dicky" Bales, 66, 724 Georgia Street, Johnson City, died Friday, June 17, 2005, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Bales was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was a son of the late Williams Harvey Bales Sr. and Hazel Kelly Bales and was also preceded in death by one sister, Ann Autry. Mr. Bales was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a textile employee of Leon-Ferenbach with 25 years of service. Mr. Bales attended Fairhaven United Methodist Church and was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Johnson City Masonic Lodge #486 F and A.M. Survivors include: his wife, Brenda Huff Bales, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Richard P. and Christy Bales, of Johnson City, and Charles E. "Ward" Bales, also of Johnson City; two brothers: Tommy Bales, of Orlando, FL, and Bill Bales, of Johnson City; three sisters: Isabella Evans, Glenda Greer and Judy Trivette, all of Johnson City; two grandchildren: Matthew E. Bales and Emma L. Bales. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The Masonic Service for Charles R. "Dicky" Bales will be held at 8 PM Monday, July 20, 2005, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel with the Johnson City Masonic Lodge #486 officiating. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Rick Clowers officiating. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 AM Tuesday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Everyone will meet at the funeral chapel to go in procession to the cemetery at 9:30 AM Tuesday. Active pallbearers will be Gary Greer, Glenn Greer, Louis Runion, Bobby Ollis, Frank Hyder and Michael Bales. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Bales, Tommy Bales, Danny Baldwin and Mickey Onks and members of the Fairhaven Youth. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Monday prior to the service.
